GPS orienteering

Show Profile  KiwiclimberPosted: 9 February 2010, 2:28 AM
Some mates of mine in IFK Kiruna, Sweden, have developed a web application FROG (Free Orienteering with GPS) for setting training courses without having to put out controls. The only thing you have to know is the GPS coordinates for the controls (including start and finish). A runner with a GPS can then run the course and afterwards check if she or he has been in the right positions. Split times and route choices are shown for everyone who has run the course. More information: http://ifk.kiruna.se/frog

FROG is now Open Source. That means that you can install it on your own server. The server must have support for mysql and php. Go to http://freeog.sourceforge.net for further instructions.

Gonna try it when I've got a moment, kiwi. As you know we've been experimenting here. You wouldn't be an ex-south-islander with a scottish surname would you?

I'm sure the guys over here would be interested in what you've been doing, too - any details?
