I see in Simon's "Permanent Markers" thread that Robbie mentions a course in Auckland on "Duders map" where maps are available at the start. Robbie or anyone else have better details?
Any other permanent courses (North Island only) that might be worth our while as training runs prior to the Easter events? (We head over next week)
Any details, especially true bush style courses much appreciated. We need all the practice we can get!

The Map and Permanent Course in Rotorua has just been updated. Head for the wonderful Whakawerawera (Redwood)forest on the edge of town. The information centre has the maps and instructions for the courses. The hardest course will take experienced orienteers about 45mins and if this isn't long enough then the rest of the forest is open for longer trail runs as well.

Just be aware that the Wellington club permanent course is embargoed until World Cup / Oceania 2013 - you can go for a training run in the parks of Wellington city but you cannot do orienteering training unless it's a Wellington club event.

Brilliant info everyone.
The Rotorua course especially sounds good.
Now can anyone answer my silly question No1?
Sure I can do more research but then again I'm flat chat (still booking stuff) and a heads up would be appreciated.
Cheers

Also the permanent course at Te Mata Peak is out of date, im know it was going to be updated at some stage but i am not sure if that has happened yet. Some controls are still there though. Maybe contact the HB orienteering club about that one.
