Mt Victoria Orienteering Course
Article by Wednesday, 13 January 2010
It’s been described as a cross between chess and trail running - and now orienteering is to have a new, permanent home in Wellington. Orienteering is an outdoor sport where you use a map and a compass to find your way through a cross-country style course.
We've linked up with the Wellington Orienteering Club to provide a permanent course on Mt Victoria - another great thing to do in the Town Belt.
"Having this facility within the Town Belt, close to the many schools in the region, will enable schoolchildren and young adults to experience and enjoy orienteering and acquire basic navigational skills," says David Turner, Convenor of Wellington Orienteering Club.
Maps of the course can be downloaded on the Wellington Orienteering website.
